The Idol, The Weeknd’s dark and twisted series

“Dark desire” best describes the aura surrounding The Weeknd’s music. Drugs, sex, and relationships set against the backdrop of his stardom are all themes that often appear in his music. With the release of a 90-second teaser, it seems his latest production, The Idol, will feature similar subject matter. 

The Idol is the creation of The Weeknd, Euphoria’s Sam Levinson, and Reza Fahim, following the story of a self-help guru, LA club owning, cult leader and his relationship with a pop star on the rise. The Weeknd stars in this series as the male lead acting alongside Lily Rose-Depp who plays Jocelyn.    

Described as “sick and twisted”, this HBO production doesn’t yet have a release date, but the trailer leaves viewers wanting more.
