Blood & Water Is The Latest Netflix Original Series Out Of South Africa

For those of us who grew up in the time of Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and the like, a teen drama set in a prestigious school is not new. However, Netflix has flipped the script with its latest production, Blood & Water. This is the second Netflix Original series out of South Africa after Queen Sono, starring Pearl Thusi.

Blood & Water is centred on the role of ‘Puleng Khumalo,’ played by Ama Qamata, a 16-year-old looking to investigate the abduction of her sister 17 years ago. Set in a prestigious Parkhurst high school, in addition to trying to solve a lifelong mystery, Puleng also has to navigate the social structures of rich and infamous students.

The cast features performances from Khosi Ngema, Natasha Thahane, Gail Mabalane, Cindy Mahlangu, Thabang Molaba, Arno Greeff, and Dillon Windvogel. Actors that many South Africans have come to love through their roles on hit drama series, soaps and SAMA nominated films. In addition to this seasoned cast, Nasty C will be making his acting debut playing the role of ‘Zhero’. The six-episode series will be available on May 20, 2020.
