Lelowhatsgood is making his musical debut

South African DJ, event curator, and all around cultural tastemaker has entertained audiences from around the world. This September, in collaboration with Dee Traits, Lelowhatsgood makes his first foray into the music scene with the release of his EP, Next Level.

This August, he announced the fruits of this labor as part of 7-track joint EP, Next Level with Dee Traits. Of which, the first single, “Demon’s Kiss” will be available on digital streaming platforms on 26 August 2022.

Next Level collaborators, Dee Traits is a dynamic house music duo based in Durban, South Africa. Joining forces with Lelowhatsgood to conceive a new sound they refer to as “Is’qinsi”, a cross blend of gqom and electronic music, this soundscape is notable by “the heavy kick and bass”, creating a distinctive listening experience for their new genre.

Over the years, Lelowhatsgood’s contributions to the entertainment space have been recognized through his commitment to entrenching ballroom culture in South Africa’s eventing landscape. Lelowhatsgood describes his relationship with gqom by saying, “For me, it means I can take a sound that’s very homegrown and infuse it with the inspirations I’ve been drawing from globally. Gqom is one genre that has been keeping steady as a DJ and to be able to release a project that takes it a step further also keeps me ahead of the curve.”
