House Of The Dragon makes HBO history

After months of teasing, Game Of Thrones fans have waited with bated breath for the release of HBO’s House Of The Dragon.

Set in Westeros, House Of The Dragon takes place 172 years before the tragic rise and fall of Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains. The series premiere drew 9.986 million viewers across linear and HBO Max platforms in the United States, marking the largest audience for any new original series in HBO history.

As to be expected, fans took to social media to express their sentiments around the new production. On premiere day, House of the Dragon was the longest trending topic on Twitter, ranking #1 for 14 hours straight, and trended #1 on Google Trends. Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max said, “It was wonderful to see millions of ‘Game of Thrones’ fans return with us to Westeros last night. House of the Dragon features an incredibly talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into the production, and we’re ecstatic with viewers’ positive response.” 

In the US, new episodes of “House of the Dragon” will debut each week at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. In South Africa, episodes will air on Monday mornings at 3:00 a.m. and again at 9:30 p.m.

The season finale of season one airs on October 23/24, 2022.
